Warten auf Drei Schwestern

(“Waiting for Three Sisters”) Hayal Perdesi Theater in co-production with Istanbul Theater Festival

Waiting for The Three Sisters
adapted from Anton Chekhov.

Following a successful festival tour, award-winning artist Selin İşcan makes her debut in Berlin with this highly topical adaptation of the Chekhov classic.

Three women are waiting. They want to go to the West, like so many before them, in hopes of a better life. Three actresses dream of going to Berlin to play “Three Sisters” there. Stopped at the border, they perform excerpts from Chekhov’s classic. On an imaginary line drawn on a world map many years ago, between countries, between horizons, between theatrical and personal, experience and imagination, Mascha, Olga and Irina come to life…

“With his three young, magnificent actresses, Aleksandar Popovski creates a poor, wild, fragile theater that, in dealing with great misfortune, gives a rare feeling of happiness.” (Gilles Costaz, webtheatre.fr
